News!
Welcome, Pastor Cathy Bruce!
We are excited to announce that Cathy Bruce has joined us as our new minister! Pastor Cathy Bruce comes to the Reformed Church of Shawangunk after serving as a pastor in NYC with the Hope network of churches. Prior to serving as Executive Pastor at Hope Midtown, Cathy planted and led a church for two years during the Covid 19 pandemic called Hope NoMad in NYC, serving predominantly artists. Cathy also assisted in planting the Journey Church in NYC after 9/11 and in 2018 served there as a campus teaching pastor. With a heart for discipleship and seeing people grow in emotional and spiritual health, she regularly teaches Emotionally Healthy Discipleship courses and in 2021, she hosted a podcast with Geri Scazzero on the Emotionally Healthy Woman. In addition to full-time church ministry, Cathy has a diverse background, having performed on the Broadway stage, worked as a professional canine behavior consultant, and owned her own multi-site business for ten years outside of Atlanta, GA. Cathy is a graduate of 10K Fathers Worship School, holds a BFA in Music/Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri and earned her Master of Divinity degree from Northern Theological Seminary. She loves country life and living in the Hudson Valley with her husband, son, two dogs, cats, chickens and a horse named Bentley! |
Repairs to the Sanctuary
2022 marks 270 years since work began to build our beautiful stone sanctuary. It is older than our country! The years have taken a toll on the building, and major repairs to the roof and wall of the church are needed, as you may have read about in the Wallkill Valley Times. This will be a major financial undertaking. While we plan to apply for grants to help fund the restoration, first we will need the services of structural engineers and other professionals. If you'd like to contribute financially to this undertaking, please contribute online here, and select "Sanctuary Repairs" or mail a check to us with "Sanctuary Repairs" in the memo. We thank you so much for your help in preserving our beautiful and holy sanctuary building.
Quilt Raffle to Fund Roof Repairs
This beautiful handmade quilt was donated as a fundraiser to help offset the costs of the repairs needed for our sanctuary. It was pieced by Dale Tuthill, quilted by Karen Hansen, and donated by Don Tuthill. It is queen sized. The suggested donation to participate is $10 per entry. The drawing will be held in October. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward the Reformed Church of Shawangunk Sanctuary Repairs. Please contact the church office for more information or to grab your spot. (845) 895 - 2952
